So there you go, that's four of the booking deals we have already had in, think we can do something for you outwith a normal gig/event booking? Then get in touch and we will see if we can help!
. In this room, however, reality starts to impinge upon the dream, the mechanics of day-to-day material living are starting to ‘cough’ and splutter, causing noise when they’re trying to be ‘so quiet’, but sometimes noise is what wakes you up from your stupor. In the background ‘country music is playing soft’, the music of middle America gently humming away, but it’s not bad enough to turn off, so they just sit there listening and accept their predicament; in denial, everything is breaking down, even the spell of altered consciousness that they entered into in order to escape is close to falling apart.
Within all this strange apocalyptic imagery, the chorus rushes in and gives us affirmation with falsetto (the best kind of affirmation): ‘Here I’m allowed everything all of the time’. Again, it brings the internet to my mind; the universe at your fingertips, every song ever recorded, every movie ever filmed, every slice of people’s lives, every meal, every selfie, everything, and it’s open to access at any given opportunity.
With our chats regarding how to make our arts space a bit more ethical than the usual event spaces in the country taking precedent recently with the folks over at NHC MUSIC, we have decided on yet another great thing we can do for the city we love. Well, to be honest we thought about this one a few weeks ago during a recent meeting but decided to wait a wee bit before announcing, as we didn't want to hit you with all our plans at the one time, especially though good ones!
For the last three weeks NHC MUSIC have been working hard on their main 2018 fundraiser, and rather than firing up a series of events and gigs to raise some much needed cash, we decided on an auction instead, everybody likes auctions eh? On top of that, we know folk are a bit skint these days, but then again, everyone has stuff kicking around the house that they don't need, and if we could get that stuff and auction it off to others for a low price, then it means everyone is a winner.
We have already had an amazing response to our shout out for items for auction, with things as varied as a mountain bike, Beatles memorabilia, locally made scented candles, framed prints, signed albums and tour merchandise handed in… you can even bid on a band to come play in your house! We still need much more though
