Redwood Ridge - A Review - Thomas Neil

A few months ago I decided I wanted to cover more Ayrshire based bands and in my search I came across Redwood Ridge so I messaged them and they were more than happy to let me Interview them. They were also nice enough to send me some demo tracks and as soon as I heard the first song I was hooked and I can’t wait to hear more from them.

Before I get started with the review I’ll tell you a little about the band; Redwood Ridge are a five piece rock group from Ayrshire made up of Jessica Hufton (Vocals/Acoustic) Darren McLelland (Lead Guitar) Adam McColl (Rhythm Guitar) Caroline McGregor (Bass) Stuart Robertson (Drums) and together they have such a fresh unique style that I’m quite excited to see what they do next.

The first of three tracks I was sent was ‘Fall from Grace’ the lead singer has a wonderful voice that gives the entire track a distinct country feel. And between her vocals and the fusion of the various instruments the track is upbeat and swinging, its one of those songs that everyone would admit to liking.

‘Loaded Horizon’ was a more emotional song, again made better by the phenomenal vocals of Jessica Hufton. But the song is well put together and the instrumental breaks are enjoyable as well. It's certainly one I’d listen to again and again.

‘The Perfect Mistake’ has a guitar intro that was amazing, again I’m getting a folk/country feel from this song, it's another powerful addition to any set list. I think this song was probably my favourite because everything about it was top notch, it was fast paced, with great vocals and tremendous instrumental parts and the lyrics were catchy and memorable.

If you get a chance then give Redwood Ridge a listen because you will definitely not regret it and if you want to keep up to date with what’s going on with the band then follow them on facebook at and you can also follow them on Twitter as well if you’re interested by following this link
