Once again Thomas Neil has been out and about and interviewing registered bands at NHC, This time he caught up with the excellent Tiny Vinyl, check out the chat below then get to their page to listen to some of the tunes!
So first of how did you all meet?
Well calum and Neil are brothers so I guess they met at their mum and dad's gaff. Ages ago. But they moved to Glasgow for Uni and College. Calum and I met through work, got drunk, went for a jam and Neil rocked up, then rooster...a mate of Calum’s that can play drums a bit….cool. I know a guy that can play bass a bit. So they brought the roost and I brought Colin, since then it's been good times.
Where are you all from?
Bonnyrigg. And not Bonnyrigg.
How long have you been playing your respective instruments?
We have all been playin’ since our teens I reckon.
What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
No Idea. It’s a hard one to answer. We will come back to you on that.
What are your influences?
Other than alcohol and each other. There’s too many to list.
Do you do covers and if so what’s your go to?
We’ve tried but I’m hopeless at remembering shit. So no covers.
What if anything does your name mean/why are you called that?
Calum had wee coasters that were wee vinyls.
Do you have a process for writing your songs? / Which of you writes the songs?
No process really. Think we all just enjoy creating more than just playin’ other folks tunes...so when we get together we just make shit up.
What are your rehearsals generally like?
Do you have any interesting/funny stories about gigging or touring?
Sometimes Rooster wears a luminous bunny?
What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Getting good has been hard. Bein’ shit is easy and loads of fun. But when it starts to sound good it brings an element of pressure.
How can fans-to-be gain access to your music?
Got a track comin’ out on the NHC compilation vinyl
What do you think about downloading music online?
That it was inevitable.
What's your outlook on the record industry today?
And let’s end with something a little different...Which famous person, alive or dead, would you have dinner with and why?
Easy. Billy Connolly.
